Daniel and Megan are getting married in just a few weeks and I can’t wait – not only do I get to spend the day with them, photographing some amazing memories, but I get to do it all at the same venue where I got married! #superexcited
I met Daniel and Megan on a city rooftop in Durban for their engagement shoot. The weather started to turn really quickly but resulted in some pretty skies!
I’m so excited to be photographing this journey for these two – and can’t wait for the wedding day!
Motherhood is all consuming. Throw in a business, marriage, life and you’re one hot sleep deprived mess needing a little escape.
That escape came last week in the form of a Facebook post by Terry Angelos; there were just a few spaces left in her Art/Therapy class.
With a clear schedule, I jumped straight in and booked at 11.30pm that same night.
And I’m so glad I did.
I arrived at Anthology, in the Windermere Centre, and found my way to the back of the eclectic store to a corner that has been created for this very purpose: to escape, learn, grow.
What I signed up for was an art lesson in watercolour. What I got, was a morning spent with lovely women, a deeper admiration for watercolour, and the actual ability of being able to paint!
And champagne and strawberries. 🙂
When I signed up, I told Terry I was a complete novice, and had no idea how I was going to be able to paint with watercolour. My attempts in Art in high school were
terrible embarrassing creative, and I’m glad I found photography as my outlet.
But watercolour is different.
Even my blobs with a few key strokes taught by Terry looked beautiful.
I was in botanical heaven, creating stems of minimalistic flowers and leaves and getting lost in soft tones and repetitive brush strokes.
If you’re looking to do something creative, this is it!
Terry’s planning some fun art classes for 2017 and I’m definitely signing up again. You can follow her on Facebook here to keep up with what she’s up to.
“Abstract watercolours unwind me…just get lost in colour..shape and making repetitive marks…like art yoga!” – Terry Angelos.
I waited so anxiously for this shoot, watching the weather as the wind blew and the rain started, and dreading that we may have to postpone.
But an hour before the shoot, we all decided to push on. And I’m so glad we did, the rain cleared and the wind stopped and we managed to get the Durban rooftop engagement shoot that Mags and I had envisioned for their engagement shoot.
The light on the rooftop was just so amazing, and I could have carried on photographing these two, hearing all about their upcoming wedding day while snapping up that love and light.
Bruce and Mags are a very laid-back couple, so the relaxed cityscape shoot was perfect for them. Here they are:-
(PS. I’m not going to lie, these are some of my all time favourite couple photographs with such easy, relaxed posing!)
I met Juanita and Anton in downtown Durban at the old Point waterfront to do their fun engagement session. I had been looking forward to this one for awhile as communicating over email with Juanita, I knew she was going to be a really stunning person to get to know.
Anton and Juanita are so down-to-earth, true to themselves and a complete team. I loved spending a bit of time with them during their shoot, getting to know them and listening to their story.
Anton proposed to a shy Juanita on an airplane, in front of the crew and other passengers. Big brownie points for Anton for being so unconventional and getting down on one knee high up in the sky!
I’m so looking forward to their wedding day later this year! x
