FROM YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE,
I wanted to offer something special this Christmas.
And I wanted each session to impact not only the families I photograph or mine, but another family who have never experienced Christmas before.
This Christmas, spread the joy from your Christmas tree, to that of six little children currently living at Bobbi Bear*.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Book an Oh, Christmas Tree Session and a portion of what you pay will buy a gift for one of the six children currently living at Bobbi Bear.
I am only offering six of these sessions!
WHAT IS AN OH, CHRISTMAS TREE SESSION?
A documentary session with your family in your home, setting up and decorating your Christmas tree/house with the kids.
I use a combination of videography and photography to capture the heart of your family.
Book your family session with your tree already set up – and we’ll do a shoot around that! Rope in granny and grandad too!
The more, the… ahem… merrier!
WHAT DO YOU GET?
+ Beautiful memories to last a lifetime doing something with your family that may be a tradition that you will one day pass on.
+ Images delivered, fully edited and in high resolution, to you in an online gallery where you can view, download and share your photographs.
+ An online video/slideshow of your session to keep forever.
+ To give a gift to a child who has never felt love on Christmas Day.
WHO ARE THESE CHILDREN?
These children, siblings between the ages of 3 and 10 have had a horrific start to life.
Horrific, horrific, horrific.
Eureka, the angel behind Bobbi Bear has provided them with their first safe home since June.
A BIT ABOUT BOBBI BEAR
* Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation in Amanzimtoti dedicated to working with and assisting sexually abused children.
Here’s a post I’d like to share with you from the Bobbi Bear facebook page:
The cycle of abuse stops here….at our gate.
What are you going to do with “them” – a question I am asked daily? Nothing…we are going to do nothing with “them”, until the final answer has a happy ending.
We looked into the soul dead eyes of raped and abused children who have not wanted to live anymore, we hold and hug and comfort them through the long lonely nights when they are too sick to even stand and then go home and cry ourselves to sleep. We share their happy moments, and their tears and we work seven days a week to make sure that they know we care for them and they are never alone, we also make sure they know we love them unconditionally and that they are worth so much more.
We took them in and will keep them safe, we sat through night terrors, scared of the dark, teach them basics, allow them to be little people, get them every bit of help they so desperately need and still continue to need.
We have healed their physical scars, but not the emotional ones yet, we have promised them, in the dark of night when they are scared, that we will not give up on them and we have been around them 24/7.
However, we have made no promises that we can’t honour, but one promise we have made is that they day they leave our care and walk out the gate; they will go to equivalent or better.
Never will they go back, never will they endure one more tear because of neglect and abuse, and never will they go to bed hungry or wake up in an unknown place again and be scared of the unknown.
These little people are not “them”, they are precious little humans who were never given a chance, or a voice. Resources or not, we will make sure, like every case we touch, that the cycle of abuse stops here – at our gate.
It is just who we are and what we stand for.
